Jasmin Hughes, Atlanta Employment Attorney

My career began in Baton Rouge in 2014 after I graduated from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. My area of practice was personal injury, where I represented clients whose lives had changed after sustaining catastrophic injuries.

This work allowed me to develop a niche in advising other law firms on jury selection and case presentation for clients who had suffered catastrophic injuries. My work focused on identifying biases that could prevent jurors from fairly considering a client’s injuries and developing strategies to address those biases at trial. That experience carries over into discrimination cases, where selecting a fair and impartial jury is an important part of preparing the case.

After moving to Georgia, I gained experience in government law, health law, and data privacy. Then my own termination brought me to the work I do today. When I was wrongfully terminated, I successfully represented myself against my former employer. I had already spent years practicing law, but this time the dispute involved my own job and my own future. That experience led me into employment law, and in 2023, I founded J. Hughes Law, LLC. I exclusively represent employees facing workplace discrimination and people who were wrongfully terminated after opposing illegal practices.

Having challenged my own employer, I understand how much discrimination and retaliation can take from you. I know what it takes to build a case and fight for the person whose livelihood is on the line. I’ve done it for myself and for my clients.
